Cal VSA Blog
Greetings community members,
As midterms come and go we have all been very stressed and tired, and possibly, cut short on our time for social events and hang-outs. Having recognized the diminishing sense of community, CalVSA has decided to hold the first ever Murder Mystery social today Wednesday 11/14.

You are all cordially invited to attend this amazing event - admission is free. Please come join us in strengthening the bonds within our community, especially within VSA. This event will also be a stepping stone for similar ones in the future so feel free to comment on all of its aspects, if any, as it will act as a new way through which VSA can give back to community members and serve as a bridge to connect people.
Thank you all!
Greetings community members,
With midterms coming up, come by to our 3rd General Meeting: Pumpkin Carving to relieve some stress and get into the Halloween festivities. There will be pumpkin carving, snacks and of course A LOT OF CAL VSA FUN!

Greetings community members,
As you may have known Culture Show is an annual theatrical production put together by those who love and support Cal VSA, and we take great pride in the knowledge that this tradition has been kept since the founding of the organization itself. Year after year we recruit talents from all over campus and even from other universities to help us in making this production not only possible but also capable of delivering a strong message through captivating performances and stunning coordination and directing.
Tomorrow Wednesday 10/17 we will be holding a CS Info Session in which various aspects of the production process will be discussed and attendees can learn more about how these aspects connect and/or support each other.

WELCOME BACK TO CAL VSA FOR THE FALL SEMESTER OF 2012!!!
As you may know, Cal VSA Culture Show STOLEN: Nụ Sen Trắng was held in the prestigious Zellerbach Hall and it was success in the eyes of all the participants. All of the hard work, sweats, sleepless nights, and work parties definitely paid off once the show was over and the crowd started to cheer, and it was a great achievement for all the performers, CORE team members, and helpers alike. Not only that, recently we have received news that the same held true for the audience as well. The show was greatly received on April 21st but the support from community members continued long after the show day and their efforts made possible the nomination for VSA Awards for the year 2011.
I am more than happy and privileged to announce that Cal VSA has won the Outstanding Cultural Program/Event award as decreed by UNAVSA as of July. This is fantastic news for all the participants and is also a chance for them to continue supporting Cal VSA so we can keep on working hard to produce even more entertainment and education in our shows. So hopefully you can get the word out there and help us create an equally terrific show for the year of 2013. We are still accepting applications for CORE team and all story proposals are welcome.
Please visit cultureshow.calvsa.com for more information on how you can help! Also go to http://vsaawards.unavsa.org/#all for more info on other awards.
ARE YOU TIRED FROM STUDYING FOR FINALS? Do you need some encouragement and inspiration for those inevitable all-nighters that are yet to come but you know they’ll be hellish? If so then come join the members of VSA on Saturday 4/21 and get blown away, literally, by the explosiveness of our modern dance team-Sriracha, the slow and smooth yet strenuous Traditional Vietnamese dance with flowing ribbons, the sensual and sexually provocative Co-Ed fusion dance, and several more amazing performances together with the all-going efforts of our actors/actresses to bring the story of [STOLEN] to life and remind people of how lucky they are to still have a family to look forward to for comfort and guidance.
With that said, please come to our annual Culture Show titled STOLEN on 4/21 at 4pm to get that experience of being in Zellerbach-a world class stage with capacity of over 2000 seats, and to enter a world of pure aesthetics and art while accompanying our protagonists on their journey to take back that which has been illegally usurped.
TICKETS are online @ cultureshow.calvsa.com or come to our table on Sproul and buy it in person. Whatever you do, get that ticket and be ready to receive the Berkeley experience and learn what it means to be a trafficked human, a sex slave, a merchandise whose rights and voice were STOLEN!!!

Come and see Stolen: Nụ Sen Trắng in Zellerbach Theater on April 21st at 4pm! Buy your tickets at www.cultureshow.calvsa.com! A show you do not want to miss! See you there!
Love, Diana
Welcome back! Cal VSA is a very loving, open, and dynamic organization, and for that reason we have public activities as well as family events almost every week so don’t worry that you will be missing out on anything because there’s always something going on in VSA, even at this very moment!
This week, we have a lot of family events so come out and feel the love!
Yesterday in front of GBC (Golden Bear) the Mangosteen [Mang Cut] family and several other friends had a blast as they engaged in hands-on wrapping of the famous Vietnamese spring rolls. It was the first time for some members to experience this kind of food-making process and all participants felt satisfied as they dined on the results of their efforts and, possibly, with a little bit of frustration. For those who were present, thumbs up for your time and patience, if you had “rolling” trouble, and for those who were not don’t fret VSA has your back as always.
On Friday 3/16, the Rambutan [Chom chom] family will host a family-wide trip to get some scrumptious OB chicken strip so don’t miss out this opportunity if you had never tasted these crispy chicken strips of delight. If you have not had enough of spring rolls or are simply tired of dining commons foodstuffs then you need to mark this on your calendar. https://www.facebook.com/events/204986679603543 I look forward to seeing you there. Don’t forget your bus pass/money!

And if these two events are not enough to release the stress having accrued as the midterm season comes to an end then be sure to come out to next week event which is also VSA’s third general meeting, BBQ and Field Day. The name says it all; it is a day of open field fun and exercise. More on this event in next post https://www.facebook.com/events/343933892316356/. For now, stay dry and healthy!

I ❤ this photo (minus the fact that one cabinet member, Emily isn’t in it). It shows how very close we are as a cabinet. We are the most chill, hardworking, and definitely most awesome group of people VSA has had so far! Best of all, we all get along and enjoy each others company outside of work. There is time for work and a time for play, but VSA is a time for both.
Why wouldn’t you want to be part of this?
Cheers, Jason
